The Lotus Temple is a building that is located in New Delhi, India.
It is obviously most recognized by its flower shape in the form of a lotus flower. The building has one multiple architectural awards and has also been featured in many different newspapers and magazine articles all around the world.
Then there are 9 different doors that open into a central hall that is around 40 m in height and can hold over 2000 people.
The surface of the building is made up of white marble that comes from the Penteli mountain in Greece.
To top things off and there are 9 ponds that surround the building as well as gardens fit over an area of 26 acres.
The architect of The Lotus Temple is an Iranian man by the name of Fariborz Sahba who currently lives in Canada. He was asked to design the building in 1976 and later on over Saul the construction of it.
The structural design of the building was done by a firm in the UK known as Flint and Neill.
Another interesting fact about this building is that the funds that were provided to buy the land were donated by someone named Ardishír Rustampúr who had given up his entire life savings to accomplish the construction.
